Oathbreaker is a genre-blending band whose sound fuses post-metal, black metal, hardcore, and shoegaze into a deeply emotional and haunting musical experience. Founded in Belgium in the late 2000s, the band quickly became a driving force in the international underground scene and is known for its unwavering intensity, raw vulnerability, and electrifying live performances.
Their 2016 album Rheia marked a creative and emotional high point—a deeply personal, cathartic work that resonated far beyond genre boundaries. By blending fragility and ferocity, “Rheia” redefined how extreme music can sound and feel, and continues to influence a new generation of heavy metal artists even years after its release.
After a hiatus that began in 2018, the band will return to the stage in 2026, kicking off with a highly anticipated performance at the Roadburn Festival—where they will play “Rheia” in its entirety, ten years after its release. Although the members remained creatively active during Oathbreaker’s hiatus (through projects such as Wiegedood, Siem Reap, and Predatory Void), the spirit and power of Oathbreaker’s music never truly faded.
Oathbreaker’s comeback is more than just a reunion: it reaffirms the urgency, relevance, and emotional depth that have always defined the band. Their legacy is not only intact—it continues to grow.
