In her album "Eski Dünyanın Yangını" / "The Fire Of The Old World", Kalben tells stories of a newfound freedom, self-love and understanding. They are about an awakening that leads to two different forms of hope: One, born out of darkness, is full of synthesizers and sounds that bring a breath of fresh air to Kalben's music. Another sounds like familiar folk, dreamy guitars and striking strings, with which Kalben pays tribute to her favorite classical musicians. Lo-fi drums dance on a wave of feminine percussion tones. "Eski Dünyanın Yangını" / "The Fire Of The Old World" is a novelty in the Turkish music scene. Because it is also the soundtrack for Kalben's first novel. The songs are storytellers; they reflect the sensations, feelings, ideas and wounds of the novel's protagonists. They remind us of what we go through as humans to survive an evil system and a destructive civilization.
Kalben is currently working with her best friends to crystallize a new style for her fifth studio album. The artist sees this as a gift from all her loved ones - including those who are lost and never forgotten. The album is dedicated to the survivors
of domestic and sexual violence.
