Dance like the Scots—we’ll show you how!
When was the last time you danced to live music? From January through May 2027, The Berlin Ceilidh invites you to five evenings at the Kesselhaus in the Kulturbrauerei. Nightlark will be playing live, the callers will explain the dances, and you can join right in.
What began in the Maschinenhaus has now found a permanent home in the Kesselhaus. Here, people dance, clap, and laugh. You can come alone, as a couple, or with friends. Right from the first dance, you’ll join hands and switch partners.
No prior experience is necessary. The callers will show you the steps one by one, with humor and patience. Ceilidh means “coming together.” We say: Ceilidh means joy.
The band Nightlark
Patrizia Sieweck (violin and caller), Jane South (flute and accordion), and Herbie Loening (guitar) play traditional and contemporary folk music from Europe and America. The trio has been accompanying ceilidhs for years and plays live music for the dances.
