James Marriott’s career began on YouTube, where he has over 2 million followers and his videos have been viewed more than 183 million times to date. He has also been releasing music since 2021 and began achieving his first major successes in 2023, such as the release of his debut album. After his first tours and the release of his No. 1 album “Don’t Tell the Dog” (2025), the former YouTuber has long since become an established musician who is making waves internationally with a modern indie rock sound. Since 2021, the 29-year-old has been accompanied on stage by guitarist Matt Gavin, guitarist and keyboardist Jono Suter, and bassist Samuel Horsley. Louis Salanson (guitar & percussion) and Josh Caplin (drums) have rounded out his band since 2023 and 2024, respectively. In April and May, James Marriott and his bandmates will embark on a major world tour, which will make stops in Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich.

James Marriott’s career began at the age of 11 on YouTube, where he initially posted a variety of content ranging from comedy to music and reaction videos. Influenced by bands like Two Door Cinema Club, The Strokes, and Sam Fender, he simultaneously honed his own indie rock sound and released his first song in 2020. After his second single, “Him,” became a hit, James Marriott made his debut in 2021 with the EP “No Left Brain.” This was followed in 2022 by his second EP, “Bitter Tongues,” which propelled him into the Top 10 of the UK indie charts and established the songs “Sleeping On Trains,” “Car Lights,” and “Grapes” as fan favorites. In 2023, he released his debut album “Are We There Yet?” featuring songs like “Don’t Blame Me” and “Romanticise This,” which reached No. 17 on the UK album charts. In 2025, James Marriott followed up with his second album, “Don’t Tell the Dog,” which topped the UK album charts, while singles such as “I Don’t Want To Live Like This” and “Something’s Wrong” became further hits for the artist. In 2026, James Marriott scored his first Top 40 single with “California Rain,” which further boosted his international profile. On his latest single, “Burn Down The Disco,” James Marriott features a driving beat, a catchy hook, and rock-infused indie guitars, offering a glimpse into the sound of his third studio album. “Warning Signs” will be released on January 27 and will subsequently take James Marriott on his major 2027 world tour.
