Even before the first single release, the UK band President was the talk of the town. The reason: the band was announced in the line-up of the British Download Festival last year without having released a single song.
The performance was a complete success and quickly made the band a novelty that fans and critics alike followed with rapt attention. The debut single "In The Name of the Father" was the first breakthrough and was chosen as "Tune of the Week" by the BBC, among others. But the mystery surrounding the band has still not been solved a year later. It is still unclear who is behind the numerous songs that have since been released, which hover somewhere between modern metal, alternative rock and electro elements.
The band has revealed next to nothing about its members and always appears anonymous and masked, both live and online. A trick that has already brought colleagues such as Ghost or Sleep Token great success and quickly led to President being compared with those genre greats. And not just because of the aesthetics!
