In the gray hours of the morning, caught between doubt and fatigue, the songs take their final form. The world is in disarray. Where our hope lies wounded, melodies and words search for their rightful place.

Songs carried by the gentle yet resolute tones of guitars, bass, accordion, horns, drums, and piano invite us to dance during the irreplaceable hours of the concerts. GLAD TO BE ALIVE.

A commitment to fundamental truths, despite all ideological divisions. Celebrating life as a victory over destruction, over wars and demagoguery. Music is a faithful companion in this journey.

Wenzel remains true to himself and pays no heed to genre labels or trendy attitudes. His work draws from a seemingly inexhaustible source. In recent years, Wenzel has surprised listeners with numerous CD releases: new, previously unreleased songs, and musical settings of works by Johannes R. Becher, Christoph Hein, Theodor Kramer, and Woody Guthrie.

The new CD “Laßt uns verweilen” was released in September 2026.

Melancholic, wild with life, subversive, warm-hearted, cynical, delicate, and direct. Yet Wenzel remains a refugee from the world’s impositions. With bittersweet irony, he braves the rough seas. A lover who never loves half-heartedly and never plays softly with his jester’s bells, one who dishes it out and takes it in full measure, a sage on whose ark eternal couples embrace: Happiness and rage, love and time, flight and refuge, moment and era. The first and last day.

Wenzel is an author, composer, musician, singer, actor, and director. Tours have taken him through France, Austria, the United States, Nicaragua, Cuba, Turkey, and other countries. Wenzel has shared the stage with Arlo Guthrie, Randy Newman, Billy Bragg, Konstantin Wecker, and many other musicians. Wenzel has received honors ranging from the GOLDENE AMIGA and the Heinrich Heine Prize to the German Cabaret Award, the German Record Critics’ Award, and the Liederbestenliste Award. In 2023, the documentary “Wenzel – Never Believe What I Sing” was released in theaters and on television.
