The irrepressible energy of traditional music, the sophistication of classical composition, the expressiveness of rock and the clear thinking of Béla Bartók - the Hungarian band Söndörgő unites all of this in a unique musical cosmos. For over a quarter of a century, the ensemble has been shaping the international world music scene like no other formation - innovative, virtuosic and always deeply rooted in the rich traditions of the South Slavic cultural area. Four of the five musicians come from a single family: the brothers Áron, Benjamin and Salamon Eredics and their cousin Dávid Eredics. They founded Söndörgő as children and literally grew up with the band. Their musical heritage is closely linked to the legendary Vujicsics Ensemble, which has been interpreting authentic South Slavic folk music at the highest level for almost 50 years - with fathers, uncles and mentors from the Eredics family. in 2024, Söndörgő ushered in a new creative phase: The band made a celebrated statement with the album "Gyezz", which was created together with world-famous jazz saxophonist Chris Potter. The critics were enthusiastic: Jazzwise described Söndörgő as "authentic preservers and radical innovators of South Slavic music", Songlines spoke of a "breathtaking musical tour de force". The album reached number 1 in the World Music Charts Europe and Songlines' Top of the World charts. In 2025, Söndörgő celebrates its 30th anniversary - a milestone that will be commemorated with a special seasonal program. In addition to a new anniversary album with classics and brand new compositions, the band was named "Ensemble of the Season" by the Budapest Müpa in their home country - further proof of their exceptional position in the Hungarian and international music landscape. On September 26, 2025, Söndörgő can be experienced live at the Maschinenhaus in Berlin's Kulturbrauerei.
