In this spirit, rockradio.de is once again inviting you to the Mississippi Blues & Barbecue Festival at the Kulturbrauerei in 2025 - and transforming Berlin into a hotspot for authentic blues for a day. On Sunday, August 17, from 3 p.m., it will once again be handmade blues, an international line-up and Memphis-style barbecue - all in the relaxed atmosphere of the SODA Beach Garden.
Curated by Micha Maass, the 12th edition of the festival brings together musicians who breathe new life into the spirit of the blues from the Mississippi Delta with their own voices. This year's artists come from England, Finland, Italy, Poland, Denmark and Germany, among others.<br
The 2025 lineup:
Big Creek Slim Band (DK / UK / FIN / DE)
The charismatic Dane Big Creek Slim, a master of the Delta Blues, brings his profound homage to the tradition of the South to the stage with a raspy voice and international band line-up (including Roger C. Wade, Jaska Prepula, Micha Maass).
The Suitcase Brothers (SP)
The Italian duo around the Puertas brothers stands for sensitive country blues with roots in Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee. Their new album "Love, Truth and Confidence" is a declaration of love to the Piedmont Blues.
Juke Joint Smokers (PL / IT)
The Berlin scene meets Mississippi: Adam Sikora and Luis de Cicco celebrate rough hill-country blues with harp, slide guitar and plenty of groove - straight from the streets of Berlin to the heart of the audience.
And of course: barbecue, as it should be:
To go with the music, there's probably the best Memphis-style BBQ in town - plentiful and smoky, spicy and warm. Food like in the juke joints of the south - in the middle of Berlin.
