After their sold-out concert at Berlin's Maschinenhaus in fall 2024, Divanhana are finally returning - this time to the big stage of the Kesselhaus in the Kulturbrauerei. On November 26, 2025, the celebrated band from Sarajevo will present their new album "Radio Sevdah" - a tribute to Sevdah, Sarajevo and love.
For 15 years, Divanhana have been among the most important ambassadors of Sevdah, the profound musical tradition of Bosnia-Herzegovina that tells of longing, lost love and nostalgia - emotionally related to fado or morna. With "Radio Sevdah", the band brings this tradition into a modern sound that combines jazz, folk, classical, pop and electronics.
Structured like a radio program, the album pays homage to the cultural institution of Radio Sarajevo, where the most important Sevdah recordings were made between the 1940s and 1980s. Between jingles, moderations and musical transitions, past and present, archive recordings and new compositions merge.
Divanhana manage to lead the Sevdah into new worlds of sound without losing its soul - music full of depth, melancholy and joie de vivre. There is also room for humor and social issues: in "Primitivo" they take a tongue-in-cheek look at the turbofolk genre, while "Palo kamlipe" - their first self-composed Romani song - is dedicated to the Roma community.
After performing at renowned festivals such as the Paléo Festival Nyon, the Rudolstadt Festival and the Bardentreffen Nuremberg, Divanhana are now bringing their modern sevdah back to Berlin.
