The world is running out of water: Can we save ourselves?

Two-thirds of the earth is covered with water - but only three percent of it is freshwater. In many regions of the world, stocks are dwindling rapidly. In Germany, too, we will experience water shortages. In this book, Annika Joeres and Susanne Götze accompany fictional protagonists into a near future, showing in an exemplary way how we can live if we adapt to the consequences of water shortage in time - or how we will suffer if we do not act. The dramatic stories have a real background and are based on numerous studies and interviews with scientists. How we deal with the water crisis will have a decisive impact on our everyday lives.

Susanne Götze holds a doctorate in history, is an author and journalist. She works as an editor for SPIEGEL. For her articles, she researches the consequences of climate change and international climate and energy policy in Europe, Africa, and North and South America. Her book Land unter im Paradies was awarded the ITB Award in March 2019.

Annika Joeres works as a climate reporter for the investigative editorial department correctiv.org and reports from France for DIE ZEIT. She specializes in cross-border research on Europe, energy policy and climate change and has received numerous awards for her work.
