Presseteil

The 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Berlin is an insider tip. The carefree lightness of her folk-pop songs shimmers with a melancholic maturity reminiscent of Dota Kehr or Judith Holofernes, and you can't get enough of her gripping voice. Special guest is the young singer Jupiter Flynn. Her long-standing fascination with space explains her name (her name is inspired by a character in the novel "These Broken Stars") and she wants to play her guitar in space one day. Both singer-songwriters will play at the Kulturbrauerei's Maschinenhaus on Monday, April 24, 2023.

Lying in the dark, staring holes in the ceiling and listening to the voices in your head that don't want to stop talking. This one, important question that for days, weeks, months has been accompanied by ever new crises, whose answer seems far away: "When will it start to stop again?" is a song that could not be more topical. Like so many people, the world is increasingly falling right at the feet of Berlin artist Juli Gilde. Despair about whether it will get a little brighter again someday takes over space and time. A song about light that is not there, about breathing animals and howling dogs in the backyard of the old building, at night, when everything should be asleep. A bit of lofi piano, the Juno buzzing in the background, and again this huge, reverberant guitar space, the common thread on Juli Gilde's new EP "Euphoria and Panic!", which can also be clearly perceived on the second single "When will it start to stop again?". A warm, melancholic atmosphere, characterized by Andi Fin's synth skills and Juli's haunting voice. A song to pause, close to Ezra Furman's "Can I sleep in your brain", Arlo Parks or Cigarettes after Sex. Which, despite dealing with such a heavy subject, is perfect for hibernating in a big, gray city, braving the cold with a mix of arpeggios, lofi beat and muted bass.
